Grief and Loss
Grief is the natural response to losing someone or something deeply meaningful — yet for many survivors of trauma or abuse, grief can feel especially complicated. You may find yourself grieving not only a person, but also the safety, childhood, or sense of self that was taken from you. Loss can bring waves of sadness, anger, guilt, or numbness, sometimes all at once. It may feel as though your world has shifted, and you’re left trying to find your footing again.
Grief doesn’t always follow a predictable path. You might feel okay one day and overwhelmed the next. You might long for connection but also withdraw, unsure of how to express what you’re feeling. When layered with past trauma, grief can activate old wounds — feelings of abandonment, helplessness, or fear that you’ll never fully recover.
Therapy provides a compassionate space to honor your loss and begin making sense of your experience at your own pace. In our work together, we’ll:
-
Gently explore the emotions and meanings tied to your loss
-
Understand how grief and trauma may be intersecting
-
Create rituals or practices that help you mourn and remember
-
Build coping strategies for moments of emotional intensity
-
Reconnect with your sense of purpose, identity, and hope
Healing from grief isn’t about “getting over” what happened — it’s about learning how to carry your loss with greater ease and compassion. With time, understanding, and support, many people find that their pain transforms into a deeper appreciation for life and connection.
If you are navigating grief, whether from a recent loss or the cumulative pain of the past, you don’t have to go through it alone. I invite you to reach out and take the next step toward healing and wholeness.
